Low pressure casting process: Use dry and clean compressed air to press the molten aluminum in the holding furnace from bottom to top through the liquid riser and gating system to smoothly press the mold cavity of the casting machine and maintain a certain pressure until the casting solidifies and releases the pressure. This process fills and solidifies under pressure, so the filling is good, the casting shrinkage is less, and the compactness is high.

Gravity casting process: The process of injecting molten metal into the mold under the action of the earth’s gravity, also known as pouring. Gravity casting is further divided into: sand casting, metal mold (steel mold) casting, lost foam casting, etc.

Mould selection: Both are divided into metal type and non-metal type (such as sand mold, wood mold).

Material utilization: low-pressure casting is suitable for the production of thin-walled castings, and the riser occupies very little material; gravity casting is not suitable for the production of thin-walled castings, and risers need to be set up.

Worker’s working environment: Low-pressure casting is mostly mechanized operation, and the intelligent working environment is good; while in gravity casting, some workers need to be used to assist the pouring operation.

When considering whether to choose low pressure or gravity process for production, it is mainly determined by the casting process personnel according to the difficulty of the product, product performance requirements, cost and other factors. Usually, low-pressure casting is selected for thin-walled and complex parts with high performance requirements.
